POSITIVE MINDS AT TATTON GARDENS

This is the story of our Positive Minds programme.

Week 1 – Our group came together and we ran an ice breaker with a speed networking way of meeting new people. This got us to get to know the group better. The activity that was set was creating a Vision Board thar would encourage setting more goals in life, looking at ways of looking forward and not backwards. It helped to clarify future aspirations and opportunities which then enhances wellbeing and confidence.

“It was really good because it was a creative way of capturing goals for the future”

Week 2 – On week 2 we came back together as a group and looked into our Positives from our weeks and then started the painting experience. This included painting a ceramic pot and planting seeds that we then had to look after at home so that they would grow and we could look after them.

“I felt very calm whilst doing this activity and I felt like my anxiety had reduced”

Week 3 – In this 3rd week we concentrated on expressing through art therapy techniques and painting person centred pieces. This process was extremely calming and therapeutic.

“I loved doing this activity and it made me feel happy and content and free of seizures.”

Week 4 – This week we concentrated on team tasks for the garden. We build a small cold frame and painted some decorative mirrors. To provide light in our shining garden. There was also an opportunity to decorate the bug hotels.

“This experience was relaxing and beneficial because we achieved the goals set”

Week 5 – This week we took part in a unique experience involving creative writing and team work. The group was split into two and tasked with creating a promo trail for positive minds with Udevelop.

We participated in bringing our own voice and experiences for this course. It pushed us out of our comfort zone by facilitating self-understanding.

Week 6 – This week we finalised the promo trail by adding music to the promo and prepared to display our collective works on Udevelop’s website.

The course has given us choices by challenging our negative thoughts through positive activity. Being supported by peers provides an environment to feel safe and heard.
