TATTON COMMUNITY CENTRE

WE HAVE BEEN COMMISSIONED BY RISE CONSTRUCTION FRAMEWORK TO WORK WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY OF CHORLEY EAST WARD AND PROVIDE RESIDENTS WITH NEW SERVICES IN THE TATTON COMMUNITY CENTRE SUPPORTED BY CHORLEY COUNCIL.

UDevelop have been very busy running the community consultations over in Chorley East over the last month and we have gathered lots of information to start work on delivering services for the local people. We have done door to door consultations with up to 230 homes. We have also opened up the doors at the new Tatton community centre and 40 local people came and expressed their thoughts about future services and provision for the area. We also received an additional 35 questionaires that we got from groups.

Here is the breakdown of what we found and what we are doing in the first stages of development.

ALL OF THE AREAS THAT ARE MARKED ARE THE FIRST STAGE OF OUR PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT

We got a wonderful visit from Councillors Hasina Khan and Chris Snow from Chorley Council.

UDevelop have decided to do the programme development in phases and the first phase has included:

  • COFFEE AND CHAT - JULY AND ONGOING

  • YOGA - AUGUST

  • FIRST AID - SEPTEMBER

  • DIGITAL -SEPTEMBER

  • MENS WELLBEING - AUGUST/SEPTEMBER

  • SUMMER FOOTBALL  - AUGUST

  • GARDENING - AUGUST/SEPTEMBER

  • WOMENS HOUR - JULY/AUGUST

UDevelop have worked very closely with the locals to develop the services and we have reached out to local providers to be able to run some free programmes for local people within the Chorley East area supported by UDevelop and Chorley Council.

First we have supported Rhymicality with a 4 week programme and they have now a SOLD OUT for their summer programme that has engaged with 25 families who wouldn’t have normally taken part in the activities due to costings and availability.

UDevelop have also supported Finding Felicity who is delivering a yoga offer for people with mobility problems and for people who would like to do the mat Yoga. This all starts on Monday 21st August. Felicity will be delivering a 4 week free engaging set of workshops to propose to continue in the future with local residents.

UDevelop are also supporting to help grow Jolly Totz provision in the area so that local parents can access new development services for their babies and toddlers. Elaine is going to be offering from September free spaces for parents who would like their children to take part in playdoh creative sessions and messy play.

Coffee and Chat started nearly 6 weeks ago and has been a huge hit on a Thursday. Residents have come together taking part in new activities like sharing music interests, playing games, doing arts and crafts, planting seeds and mixing together as a whole community. These sessions will be ongoing and will support the residents group moving forward.

First aid has been flagged up on the consultation so we booked Lancashire Adult learning and have some secured dates in the diary ready for people to book on.

Basic life saving Skills Friday 15th September 12-3pm

Essential life saving skills Friday 22nd September, Friday 29th September, Friday 6th October ,

Introduction to food Safety - date changed tbc.

UDevelop will be introducing a 4 week digital programme to run with groups in September. This is where learners will be able to pick up the basics of working a computer. They will be able to find out the functions, understand applications, complete research programme and access and complete online forms such as MYGP and housing applications.

We are currently looking at setting up a mens wellbeing evening and also providing people with opportunities to support each other in the community with volunteer opportunities

Summer football has been set up by UDevelop and we have 2 full cohorts running throughout August. 20 young people will be learning some amazing skills from an influential goal keeper and trainer.

Gardening has started and we have decorated some wonderful pots and started to sow seeds but the main gardening tasks and programme will be working with local residents and the people living in Tatton Garden to maintain and keep the beds at a high standard from the spring time onwards.

Womens hour has been a huge hit and is running on the run up to yoga that starts in August. If we find that more women start to come and peer to peer group meetings are working we will continue the provision and encourage more volunteer opportunities.

UDevelop are also in the process of working with new partners and providing further support and services for people with specialist educational needs, alzheimers and dementia and support for people who are in between homes.
